Why are almost all Adobe CC apps new to 2017, however Lightroom is still the 2015 version.. It seems a bit outdated, in need of a refresh

It's had various new features, they just haven't bumped the number to avoid confusing perpetual users.

It does not seem as new and up-to-date as photoshop CC 2017 though.. for example, almost 8 months after the new MacBook Pro release, still no touchbar support in Lightroom, whereas photoshop received it only a month after the laptop was released. Lightroom seems to be getting forgotten about... the "various new features" that you mention do not seem in-line with the rest of the product range...

Yeah, a major release is way overdue and there is plenty of room for new features and performance increases. Other vendors are aware too and are putting out some tempting products, Macphun Luminar has a new release with an AI feature, and On1 is working hard to capture the market. And if Adobe continues to sit on this version they will be successful. I know I'm looking around at different products. I shoot Fuji and the LR processing is less than optimal, I run everything through Iridient X-Transformer, a step I feel should not be necessary.
All we can hope is that they are working on something very impressive and will come out in the next 3 - 6 months. Otherwise subscribers will start dropping off.
