Lightroom 2015.6 unresponsive on large stack manipulation

While working with a large number of photos (a time lapse) I grouped 1355 photos into a stack. Collapsing the stack causes the issue, as well as expanding. General working with these images has caused lockups, but it isn't consistent. After restart, I can do what I want for a bit then lit locks up again.

It seems like a worker thread is pegging a CPU core and becomes unresponsive to new work. The interface still works, however, any new work given to it doesn't get done or queued. No progress bars show in the top left. I've had to restart lightroom over and over and end process in task manager. Any work queued after the lockup doesn't get done, even minor changes like changing the color label on a picture. I can, however, browse pictures like normal while it is in this state.

I updated to the latest, hoping it would fix the issue, but it is present on the latest version. I'm unsure what version I had before, probably 2015.5.
