Lightroom 2015.4. hangs shortly after launch

I updated to LR 2015.4 recently. Since then it crashes 10-15 seconds after launching, so I am unable to use it. I have tried signing out of Adobe CC and re-signing back in.
I am on Mac OSX 10.11.3

Hi,
Thanks for your suggestion, but this did not fix the issue. Application launches but fails to respond after a few seconds.

Fails to respond (hangs) or crashes (closes itself)?  There's a notable difference between the two.

Fails to respond. Apologies for not being clearer.
I have found a workaround though. It seems that if I launch Lightroom (or Photoshop which has the same issue) and leave it for a few minutes without touching any applications, without trying to "do" anything - it appears to work normally after this.

Make sure you add the write permissions on the list of the standard user folders and ALL their enclosed items, not just the folders themselves. Apple's help doc describes how to do that https://support.apple.com/kb/PH21997?locale=en_US&viewlocale=en_US.
