Lightoom Classic CC: Is it possible to use embedded preview after import?

Hi at All!
one of the new feature of Lightroom Classic CC is the import with embedded preview to speed up the culling precedure in the Library module using the embedded preview.

My question is:
Is it possible to use embedded preview also for project already in the library?
I have tried to remove the Lightroom preview froma folder but LR doesn't use the embedded preview.

I know that the embedded preview doesn't show the LR develop setting, but this question is to speed up the culling procedure of old project.

Any suggestion?

Not that I know, but older images should already have a Lightroom-generated preview anyway, because otherwise you can't view them...

You could save metadata back to the files, then remove them from the catalogue and reimport them. Or rely on the faster generation of standard and 1:1 previews.

Yes, this can be a solution. But the question is different!

I keep it in mind if no other solution come out

Your question is how to speed up the culling of an old project, and I have given you two ways. Standard preview generate 4 times faster, 1:1s 2.5 faster on my systems. Any other solution is for "domani" or "dopo domani"!

Still, I would like to see a menu option Library > Previews > Build Embedded and Sidecar Previews, or a button that switched to preview mode.

As camera makers continue to  improve their in-camera JPEG processing at some point you will be hard-pressed to improve it using the raw data for most "normal" shooting situations. The embedded previews in my "older" Canon 5D MKII and 600D CR2 files are already surprisingly good!

Having the ability to use the embedded preview as a full "working copy" (i.e. Crop, Develop settings, Export) would be a big time saver.  Add an option to create Virtual copies using the raw image OR Embedded Preview and you have the best of both to work with as needed.
