Lightroom: Crash when moving from Library to Develop and others

I'm trying to move from library to Develop and Lightroom continues to crash on me. Until now it would randomly crash when editing a photo in PS CC and then going back. Now however it just crashes and has become unusable. I've uninstalled, and reinstalled, and nothing. I've read  back several post, and found that this problem has persisted for several variations of the program, will you be fixing this or allowing it to continue on? There are plenty of free apps out there nowadays and allowing such a horrible bug to persist says a lot.

Dan, Sorry to hear about your crashing issue.  Have you reset your preferences? A Preference File will survive a Lightroom uninstall/reinstall. Sometimes weird behavior is corrected/cured by resetting the preferences.

Reset Procedure:

1. Close Lightroom.
2. Hold down [Alt/Opt]+[Shift] while restarting Lightroom.
3. Overwrite the Preferences when prompted by the dialog.
4. Close Lightroom.
5. Restart Lightroom.

Does the behavior continue after resetting the preferences?

Thanks for the help but unfortunately yes it is still crashing. I have noticed that I can successfully move a picture from the library to develop mode by using the filmstrip at the bottom instead of pulling from the local disk option located on the right hand side which is when the crash occurs.

Select the image in Library. Hit the [ D ] shortcut to go to Develop. What happens?

It worked really well using the first picture in the folder. Once I selected a picture however and tried to send it over, it crashed again. Now it's crashing so often that when I try to open a collections folder it's starting to crash on me.

Are you using Windows or Mac, and is GPU enabled or disabled in Lightroom preferences ?
Please provide system details and Lightroom version.

I'm using a PC windows 10. I have enabled the GPU in the preferences (this was default). Computer is a Cyberpower PC with a AMD Ryzen 5 1400 3.2 GHz CPU. 8GB DDR4 RAM. AMD Radeon RX 580 4GB GPU

Have you tried disabling the GPU in prefs?

I just did that and tried 10 different photos, and this seems to have fixed the problem. Any idea why the GPU disabled would resolve the problem?

Because using the GPU to speed up performance is very much a work in progress, and it is dependant on the GPU driver interacting favourably with LR. Unfortunately GPU drivers are buggy, and in any case, if you are not using a 4/5K monitor you won't see much if any benefit. Try different GPU drivers and stick with one that works; new ones often have new bugs!!

Otherwise, turn it off.
