On this page it is said that Adobe is investigating the option to update Lens Profile Creator program to 64-bit. What is the present status and where can we keep track of progress on this? I'm eager to have the Lens Profile Creator available under macOS Catalina.

That page was published and or updated on Nov 5th 2019. The way Adobe works the update for the lens profile creator may take months to be updated or never at all. Buy a Cheap Windows notebook to use the creator on.

Just tried to run Lens Profile Creator on a Windows virtual machine under Parallels on my iMac. No dice: even with 16 GB of memory assigned to the Windows VM Lens Profile Creator complains about memory shortage when trying to create a profile with 15 image files made with the Sony A7R4. Don't want to assign still more memory to this VM. And no, I don't want to have extra machines cluttering my house for just one task.
Executing the same task on the iMac (Mojave, 10.14.6), 32 GB of memory) works just fine.

Also tried to run LPC on my wife's Windows box (W8.1, i3, 8 GB memory). Same problem: not enough memory.

The current profiles in Lr don't seem to work well with my lens copies. The Nikon AF-S 70-200 2.8 VR profiles overcorrect the vignetting. I also recently shot with the Nikon 200-500 5.6 and I see a lateral vignetting that was impossible to correct. Left half of image was darker than the right. (rented, probably a bad copy of the lens)

The result is panoramics that have waves in the sky. I'd love to be able to print charts, shoot, and create my own profiles so they are exact.

Catalina 10.15.4

Same here, new version of Lightroom don't unwrap correctly with custom Lens Profile, then I try to redo the profile but oh! Lens Profile Creator doesn't work anymore! Plus I lost my computer data and can't redo other Lens Profiles!!
Hope that Adobe sees the potential of custom Lens Profiles:
- rectilinear focal lengths that no manufacturer is able to make
If implemented in video also:
- indirect and good rolling shutter fix
- indirect stabilization
- with automatic image analysis and the lens data a perfect stabilizator without perspective distortions
- reframing, etc

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled Adobe Profile Lens Creator - incompatibility with Mac OS Catalina.

  • Hello Adobe Community, since the last time I used Lens Profile Creator now it's incompatible with Mac OS Catalina.
  • It's a jewel of a software, it's awesome to share self made Lens Profiles with people that aren't available and would be really good for the community if it's updated.
