Photoshop: Layer Masks in Layers and Groups

If I am dragging a group or a layer around the screen and there is a layer mask, the layer mask and the layer mask thumbnail do not move together. This is rather annoying when I group something in a folder and I want to move the group.

If you are working with just a layer it would be nice to drag the layer around the screen linked together. I figured out how to link the layer and the layer mask together by clicking in between them, or going into the Layer Mask menu in the Layer menu but it would make more sense to have a right click option on each part of the layer that let me link it to it's mask.

It took me searching for how to link the mask to the thumbnail to discover how to link it together and I did not initially notice that there was a white border around the layer mask and the layer mask thumbnail. If this was colored say red or some other color I would have noticed that I was only using part of the layer.

If both the layer mask and the layer mask thumbnail had a colored border I would know that I have different options for them and experiment with them (since I would notice them). Once I did notice the white border around a layer mask I tried to hold CTRL and click on the layer mask thumbnail to select both the layer mask and the layer mask thumbnail, but that did not select both parts of the layer. If CTRL and SHIFT would let me select both parts of the layer I would look for different options with right click or different tools to show up when they are selected.

It sounds like you are using Photoshop, but which version are you using?

Photoshop CS6 & CS6 x64, though I believe this idea would have not been there in the other versions and other programs.
