I just ran the Photoshop 13.0.1 update yesterday and have found a bug.

When you add a layer and layer mask to an image, it's impossible to complete mask out that layer. Even when you set the brush to 100% the layer never completely disappears - instead a very faint image (2-4%) remains.

If I re-open the same image in PS CS5.5. I can paint out the rest of the layer. completely then If I then reopen in CS 6 it's fine.

Test it out use a color layer and you'll see what I'm talking about.

I'm running OS 10.7.4

Hi Brian,

So far I am unable to reproduce this issue. Does it only happen when you use the Brush tool? What happens if you fill the layer mask with black -- are you seeing the same thing? Does it happen on certain kinds of layers? What brush preset (and settings) are you using?

Thanks!

Same thing happens if I fill the layer with 100% black using the bucket tool

Brush is 40px

Hardness 100% (Same happens with a soft brush this is just easier to see.)

Opacity & flow 100%

It shows up when a copy part of an image to cut-n-paste retouch.

Still no luck. There might be something I'm missing. Could you make a video recording of the issue, including your Layers panel and options bar? If you don't want to post it here, please contact me at jrubbo AT adobe DOT com.
