Photoshop: Layer Mask and Smart Object editing problems

Photoshop CC:
When editing Curve Adjustment Layer Masks with a Brush, get random large artifacting effects on the mask. Like a screen that hasn't refreshed, but these artefacts are on the actual mask.
Also have problems editing Layers once they are converted into Smart Objects. Either become uneditable or become invisible.
I've used Layer masks and Smart Objects in my work flow for years now, never had this problem

Using Photoshop CC 14.2.1x64
Macbook Pro 13" Haswell 2.4Gh

Can you reproduce the problem on multiple systems? Often corruptions like these are caused by bad RAM or failing motherboard/hardware.

If you can reproduce this on multiple systems, can you post a file that reproduces this problem?

Hi Jeffrey

Thanks for your reply. After a reboot, the problem has gone away. In retrospect I did have a few apps open at the time. This is a new macbook pro, but its only got 4gb RAM so it might just have been squeezed for memory.

Here's a screen grab of one of the masks. It also occurred when lassoing a section of the mask - I guess photoshop uses bit map masking for its selections as well.

Let me see how I get on. If the problem persists I'll get my RAM and motherboard checked

Thanks

Gui

Thanks. Let us know. It really looks like a corrupted memory issue.
