Lightroom doesn't launch when inserting a memory card

For some reason Lightroom no longer launches when I insert my CF (or SD) card into my built in card reader to begin importing images.

Any ideas about what I might need to do to get it to work again please?

Thanks in advance.

Check your Preferences (Import Options on the General Tab). See attached, if the option is unchecked, then you need to check it. If it is already checked, then you need to check your Autoplay settings. I can help with Windows, but not with Mac. What are you using?

So are you confirming that the option is already checked?

In which case check your Autoplay settings (Windows Start>Control Panel>Autoplay). Your settings for Pictures and Mixed Content should be set to "Import Photos Using Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 3.0". See attached:

Yes, it was checked, and these two boxes were also selected.

In which case I'm afraid I'm out of ideas. It should work. Presumably there is no problem reading from the card after you launch the import manually?

No, as soon as I push in the card its ready to read (in or outside of Lr)

I don;t need anything from the camera manufacturers here do I? (Canon in this case)

Thanks for you efforts

Sorry, I'm stumped at the moment.

I don't believe there's anything from Canon that you need to install, this is more of a system thing.....insert card, system detects and acts upon the autoplay settings. There's obviously something not happening the way it should, but I can't figure out what, I'm afraid.

Hopefully someone will come along with the answer!

On my laptop when I plug in an SD card Lightroom opens automatically, but for some reason it has stopped doing it on my PC. Both vbersion of Lightroom are the same, so I wonder what causes it to work? Any ideas?

Thanks in advance

A small problem, but the LR4.2RC does not start up with the Import screen active when LR is activated whith a D800 card connected in Finder - on a Mac running OS X 10.8.2. Preferences IS sat to do so and LR 4.1 worked fine with a D300.

And importing some 50 of those 75MB files is SLOW.

Since migrating to Lightroom 4, Lightroom will open when I insert a card into my card reader but will not bring up import dialog. I have the "Show import dialog when memory card is detected" box checked and Image Capture knows to Open LR4. If Lightroom is open when I insert a card, the import dialog appears.

PS - I deleted the com.adobe.Lightroom4.plist file.......didn't help.

when I connect my 5d camera LR4 does not open the import panel. I have the option to open import panel when a card is detected, but LR 4 ignores the camera. it works correctly in LR 3.5.

When I open the import button manually, it show the 5d source. I see the photos listed from the card.

I have the ignore suspected duplicates option turned off.

I tried importing and it says no photos or videos found.
then the import progress bar stays up on the top left.

once this happens the import option turns grey and I cannot import any thing less unless I close the imLR and reopen the application completely

Running LR4 on OSX 10.7.3. With LR4 running, when inserting an image card into the card reader, the LR import dialog window opens as expected. I closed LR4 and repeated the process, LR4 opens as expected. However, the import dialog window does not open.

#1 automatic importation doesn't work now. When a card is inserted, nothing happened. (In "preferences", the check box is correctly checked, of course)

#2 Previews from card are not all displayed. We have to "cancel" and try to import again, 2 ou 3 times for displaying all previews correctly. Message "Preview not available" (in French, sorry) is displayed instead.
(=> RAF files from XPRO-1)

#3 number of photos (top-left) are sometimes wrong...

NB : strange purple frange appears on certain photos. Not on JPEG pre-processed from the camera (FUJI X-PRO 1). Are you sure that the RAW processing (.RAF) is safe ?

I'm running LR 4.3, recently upgraded from OS 10.6.8 to 10 10.8.2. I can auto-import once (per session) as expected, but upon inserting a second card into a reader, the auto-import won't start. I am able to import manually, but it's a pain to do it that way. Things always worked as expected with the old OS.

Thoughts?

Thx -

Tom

For your information, problems with LR4 (importation) are always unresolved.
