Photoshop: Keyboard shortcuts and tools randomly become unresponsive (Mac 10.10.4)

I am flatting some comic pages and switching between G (bucket) and L (lasso) a lot on the keyboard. Every 5 minutes or so, the keyboard keys will not respond. The modifier keys still seem to work. But even after I click back to the Lasso tool, I still can not select things. I tried using both my tablet and mouse with same outcome.
Eventually the keyboard and tools become responsive again, but it seems random why. It could be I am just getting stuck on the bucket tool.

Photoshop CS6 with the whitewindowworkaround plugin, Yosemite 10.10.4, all batteries charged in keyboard, and programs up to date. Tried to restart computer with same results.

Howdy Michael,

My first thought is do you have some other application that might be stealing focus or control?  We've heard these concerns in the past and typically this is the answer.  Tablets on Mac are NOTORIOUS offenders... *scowl towards Saitama, Japan*  You might want to try disconnecting AND fully disabling you tablet, including any installed software, to see if that resolves the problem.  Keep in mind, also, that many companion apps, particularly for screen-capture and tablet controls do hijack keyboard input as can a bad/overloaded network connection.  That the problem comes and goes according to a set interval actually makes me think of an email app that's hogging control; you may want to see how your machine behaves with mail shut down.

Not saying that you should normally operate with all this stuff disabled, but it's really helpful to find what other app is causing the problem -- I use PS every single weekday and hammer on shortcuts constantly, but I do not have such problems on a clean machine nor have heard reports that haven't boiled down to one of the above.  So, give this a try and let us know what you come up with; I'd like to run this problem down for you.

Thanks,
David

Well, Jeffery and David,
First, thanks for your time and comments.

So far, I have deleted all the wacom drivers and unplugged the intuos4. I have also tried turning off the Logitech software that runs the G700 mouse, and I used the magic mouse. I unplugged the internet cable and wifi is off.
After restarting, I checked Activity monitor, to make sure there was no wacom or logitech stuff still running, and the only thing running that I recognize is Dropbox, MacsFanControll, and random computer stuff I don't recognize.

I finished flatting a page and started a new one. This time I made it about 20 minutes before the shortcuts stopped responding. I always seem to get stuck on the bucket tool. If I hold ALT, the color picker pops up, but none of the other keys respond. I can zoom out, but not in, with shortcut keys.

I am a bit stumped. Maybe I missed some wacom stuff somewhere, but I do not see it in the Activity Monitor.

After an hour or so, working in safe mode, I only had the keyboard issue once. Back in regular mode, and going to keep going at it.

I have tried everything both of you have suggested so far. Still not sure what is causing me issues.

Good News. I restored photoshop preferences, to no avail. But then uninstalled photoshop, and reinstalled it. Now it is fine. I just added Magicpicker again, and it is still working.
I have not used my wacom yet though, and have not installed the whiteworkaround etc thing. But, baby steps. I will keep adding back stuff I had in photoshop, till I break it again.

Well, looks like the culprit IS magicpicker from anastasiy.com.
Sorry so many comments here. Helps me keep track of what I have tried, and it is early afternoon in my timezone. Going to search magicpicker settings to see if there are some shortcuts I can turn off.

I have contacted Anastasiy and someone there is helping me troubleshoot why magicpicker is freezing up my keyboard. Sounds like CS6 Yosemite and Magicpicker makes the perfect storm.
At least I can remove Magicpicker and continue working, but I really like using magicpicker :-o

Just to close this off. Reverting to the previous version of Magicpicker solved all my photoshop issues. Thank for the replys and I hope others searching this problem find the answer here. What a pain that was.

Thanks for the update, Michael.  This is the second time I've heard that now.  I'll keep this in a mind and be on the lookout for it in the future.

Have a nice weekend,
David
