Kewording Is Not Working At All

Windows 10 LR Classic V 6.14 Camera Raw 10.1

The last time I was working on images I was using keywording and it was working as it always had (of course it alphabetizes everything). I was adding, deleting, individually and in groups. No problems. The next day, today, I wanted to make some changes and now nothing is working. Words cannot be deleted from individual images, groups of images wether the image is an existing word or a new image. The keywording module is present, but anytime I attempt to do anything, nothing happens.

Did I inadvertently turn it off or something?  This or anything like it has never happened previously.

Here is another twist on this, I opened a different catalog and keyworking is working as it always has. So there must be an "ON~OFF" switch somewhere for keywording?

It keeps getting wierder and more wierd:  When I returned to the catalog I was having such difficulties with keywording, the keywording is working as it always has!

Any ideas about this?

The "fix" then is to close current catalog, open a different catalog and then return to the catalog you started. Easy - huh? And this computer technician figured it out, sort of . . . but then

I did not find any reference to this in Victoria Bampton's book, "Lightroom CC/6,  The Missing FAQ. Real answers to real questions asked by  lightroom users."  If you don't have a copy of this search for it and get your copy - it is a real lifesaver!

OK ~ this rocket scientist/computer scientist solved another of the worlds' problems, back to work on images . . .

Thanks Gary! Clearly that's not what's meant to happen, so in weird situations like that, the standard troubleshooting steps on pages 543-547 would be a great place to start if it was still happening. The first one - a simple reboot - often clears up any weirdness.

Good morning Victoria, your are most welcome.  I must become more learned of your book. I did not dig any deeper than the keywording area.  I just listened to my intuition and opened a different catalog. I'm off to get a good night sleep now so the reboot will happen tomorrow, well your today, morning. Have a splendid day.
