Do you get the 'offline' info from a message or from the small red indicator on the top left of the thumbnail in the organizer?
Offline means that you have imported (indexed) files in the database of your catalog without copying the files from your camera to your computer with the option 'Get photos and videos - from files or folders' instead of 'from camera or card reader'.
The database stores the link to the location of your original files (drive and path), not a copy of the image. If the original media is not plugged in, you get the 'offline' warning. The data in the catalog is still accessible as well as the thumbnail and possibly as well as a small preview you can create on your computer from the import dialog.
If your original media (CD, DVD,stick) is not plugged in, your files are offline.

Missing: the files are no longer in the same location as when they were 'imported'. Most current reason: the files have been moved, deleted or renamed outside of the organizer. The other common reason is that your files are on an external drive which is not presently plugged in or which is plugged in with a changed drive letter.
