Even though all browsers and Mac preview can without any problem. It feels ridiculous making a screenshot from Mac Preview then pasting it in Photoshop. See attached image for example.
When trying to open with photoshop it says "unknown or invalid JPG marker type".
I'm working on a Mac Mojave 10.14.2. Photoshop 19.1.5.

Can you post a zip of the file(s) you're having trouble with? My guess is the files you think are JPG are actually PNG. If you change the extension to PNG does Photoshop open them?

Well.. Jeffrey.. You are right! :)
It seems that sometimes tinypng.com changes the marker type to PNG even though the image has previously been saved and uploaded as a JPG. Weird. Most of the time it works as intended. Thanks for the tip!
This has also led to some trouble with the Sizmek adserver because some zips suddenly produced errors when trying to upload them due to a "unrecognized file format". You can imagine the time it took to find out that a JPG was responsible.
(downloading the image above and trying to open it with photoshop shows the same error btw. So I guess a zip file is not necessary)

Ahh, indeed, it does. A lot of times this site will recompress the file, but apparently if it can keep it full size without creating a preview it works.

Note, here's what see when I try to save the file from Safari:

So, yeah, it's definitely a PNG with a JPG extension.
