Bug Report: JPEG files' Create Date (in the OS X file system) being overwritten with current date upon metadata save.

Lightroom 5.3
Mac OS X 10.9.2

When saving metadata to a JPEG file (command S), the Create Date of the file is modified with to the current date. This happens for jpeg files coming straight out of camera.

To reproduce:

1) Copy JPEG out of camera to local disk. --- File's Create Date is not changed.
2) Import JPEG into Lightroom using 'Add' option. --- File's Create Date is not changed.
3) With no changes made to image, Save metadata via drop down or command-s. --- File's Create Date has been changed to current time!!!!

Metadata within the file still shows correct capture time, etc..., but the file's physical create date has been modified in the filesystem.

Strange thing is, if I now save metadata again, only the modified time is changed in the file system (as the behaviour should be). Looks like it is somehow tied to the first metadata save of a file added to a catalog? I can provide sample jpegs if needed.
