Photoshop: I've got a couple of ideas.

First of all, I love Photoshop. I always have, even during the good ol' days when you could buy the program by the copy, and I've stuck to it for years. But honestly, one of the only things keeping me stuck to it is the fact that I'm a Mac owner, and that limits me from using other programs like SAI. As an art student, there's a lot I want to learn how/teach myself to do, but there are a few small hangups in Photoshop that can get in the way from time to time. Two of the biggest improvements for me, and many others I'm sure, would be
  • improvements to the blur tool
  • brush stabilizing
I wanted to use the blur tool to blend colours into each other (such as highlights and shadows on skin), but found that the blur effect only affects a small area along the edges of a stroke, and only to a certain extent before ceasing to blend at all. SAI's blur tool is perfect for blending colours together and creating a smooth gradient.

As for brush stabilizing, a stabilizer option for brushes would be an EXCELLENT improvement! Although the pen tool is good for creating smooth strokes, it can be very time consuming, and although I prefer the brush tool, I still have issues with jitter (even if the jitter setting is set to zero) if I don't stroke quickly enough, resulting in having to redraw the same stroke over and over again until I get the perfect curve or outline. It's just a tad frustrating.

I'm not an expert; I'm just suggesting a couple ideas that would get the job running a lil' bit smoother for some artists.
