I wish that Photoshop would revise it's basic adjustment approach so that ALL adjustments to a layer (pixel editing, filters, and adjustment layers) use the current adjustment layer approach, rather than the current combination of adjustment layers and smart filters. This would greatly simplify the editing process and eliminate the whole issue of destructive pixel editing. It's time!!

I'm not sure what's going on here. You'd eliminate direct pixel editing because it's destructive?  And no Smart Filters because Filters would be Adjustment layers (which sounds kind of cool)? Wouldn't everything being non-destructive  (no pixel layers) limit what we can do with Photoshop, at least in some respects, like LR is limited in some respects? I'm not arguing—I don't know enough from what you've described to know what this would be like and how it would affect what we do with PS currently.

No. We should still be able to make ALL destructive pixel edits BUT they should always be editable. I don’t want to limit in any way what we can do now - just increase our options. I’m talking about a fundamental change to the program.
