It would be great to add "export" to the develop mode in lightroom

The whole point of "developing" your photos (for me at least) is to export them as a finished product. Seems like this function should also be in develop mode so you don't have to switch back and forth each time you want to export a finished photo. There is probably a more efficient way to do this in a batch in library mode, but I'm not aware of how to do it. I am using the 5 beta.

You can right click on any image in any module and select Export, Export As or any of your Export presets.

Thanks for the great tips. Also, I have noticed that when I view my finished photos with a photo viewer, like windows photo viewer, or MS Office picture manager, that the brightness and contrast doesn't seem to match what I see when using Lightroom. Have you noticed this too, or do you think it is just my monitor? I have an HP w2408 monitor and I use Spyder 3 to keep it calibrated. I have noticed this with two different computers (same monitor) with two different graphics cards.

Wow, that's great! Thanks for letting me know. There is a big list of things you can do with that right click. Guess I over looked the one function I would use on a regular basis. Thanks again!

I use Ctrl(Cmd)-Shift-E to initiate exports.

Also consider publish services.

Control-shift-E. If you want the same settings as the last shot, control-shift-alt-E.
