Elements 12: The Editor quit working

My Photoshop elements 12 editor just quit working (the organizer is fine) I uninstalled it and then reinstalled. It worked for one photo and then quit again, PLEASE HELP!

How exactly is it not working?
What OS version are you using?
Did you install the Elements 12.1 update?

I am using windows 7. I was working with it fine for a couple of hours and suddenly the editor would not open. I called Cincinnati Bell Technical support and they took over the computer to find what might be going on. They cleaned up the computer!
It still did not work. They suggested I uninstall and then reinstall. Which I did, I do bot know if this is 12.1. Can you help please. Thanks
More info. The editor on my second laptop works fine . I don't understand why it won't work on this laptop. I appreciate your input and help!!!!!!!

I'm having the same issue. Can't get the editor to open but the organizer does.

I thought it might have to do with the update to 12.1 so I tried to update it and it wouldn't. Kept telling me to close the file (the file was not open).
After a few tries I restarted and now it's fine.

Could you please help me with the event logs of the crash happening on your machine. To view those logs you can follow the steps shared at:


You can post a screenshot(as shown on this link with details like .dll name and more information) of the event viewer dialog with details open.

Join the club - Elements 12 purchased and installed. Worked (note past tense!).

Now every time I (try to!) start the editor it asks me to login to Adobe -WHY? It then warns me about trial software - this is a FULL product NOT a trial. Another thing - what is this constant rubbish on the splash screen at startup about Elements 13? When I purchase software I install it on my PC, it works - that's it - no faffin about with permissions or batch files, boiled eggs, alien spaceships or Adobe IDs - if it doesn't work I WANT A REFUND!!

Hi John,

Sorry for the trouble with Photoshop Elements. I'm not exactly sure from your wording, which version of Photoshop Elements you're working with currently. Is it 12 or 13?
Also, you mention your PC, but not specific Operating System.
Which version of Windows are you using?

We do require an internet connection that is able to reach to the Adobe servers during installation so that proper licensing can happen.

All installs are full-featured trial versions, but using your serial number to license it removes the timer.

What happens after you put in your serial number?

Are any firewalls or antivirus software preventing the installer from accessing our servers or write to the hard drive?
