There must be some manner of setting Photoshop up that I have missed. I have a high level professional camera and my camera RAW files are imported as 8 bit In addition to that if I do what should not be done and recalibrate it, in a test form to either 16/32 bit many of the adjustment features are grayed out. It does not seem possible that after all of my work to have the highest possible images to work with that Photoshop destroys their very essence What can be done?

Er, what?
Yes, many adjustments are not available in 32 bit/channel HDR mode - because many of them use math that just doesn't work with infinite ranged floating point values. The same goes for filters and blend modes that are not availlable in 32 bit/channel.

In 16 bit/channel (which you should be getting out of your camera), all the adjustments and blend modes are available.

Thank you for your reply I therefore have something not quite correct in the setup of my program. It is importing at 8 bit and 240 meg. It is a D4 shot in camera Raw/

You set ACR to output 8 bit/channel instead of it's default 16 bit/channel.
