This one has been buggin' me.

You're in text mode, Esc will undo, clicking on a tool in the tool bar or hitting the enter key on the number pad will apply/set the text.

Is there way to apply/set the text by creating another shortcut?

Thanks,

Chris

Enter key, another tool, or checking the button in the text tool options bar.

No, there is no other keyboard shortcut, because you have to be able to type your text.....

There should be a way to create one with a ctrl alt combo.

I would think creating/editing text is a common task right?

The most used shortcuts can be reached with just the left hand while keeping your right on the mouse. Activating text tool is easy enough, hit "t" then click. But after that you are forced to either reach across to the bottom right with your left hand or hit it with your right hand. Most of the other tools have an easy way to set or swap tools.

I'm being picky I know, but I've been using PS for about 10 years now and that's one of the things that kind of breaks the work flow even if it is for a few seconds.

Ctrl modified keys do things like copy and paste text. So no love there.

Alt is used for special characters like a British Pound. Again no love.

As Chris subtly mentions, the Enter key can apply your text. Not the normal Enter/Return key that sits with your letters above the Shift key. Instead, the Enter key that sits with your number pad will apply your text.

Hi Brett,

Thanks for your reply.

I am aware of the many shortcut combinations present and that the enter key on the num pad applies the text.

I still think there should be an alternative shortcut, or at least a way to customize one so that it is easy to hit with the left hand.

Even shortcuts like merging visible and saving for web is easier and faster than applying text.

what about ctrl+shift+t ? that way you can go into the text, edit and out in a split second.
