In bridge there is a very easy filter option under aspect ratio that allows one to sort by crop or file aspect ratio. Examples 1:1, 2:3, 3:4, 5:7, 4:5, panoramic...etc.

It behooves me why there is no option under "aspect ratio" only giving me portrait, landscape, and square. To me that sounds more like orientation rather than aspect ratio.

There should be an option to filter in both the "Library Filter" under metadata, and under Smart Collections.

Here are 3 options for the mean-time:

AnyFilter (John Ellis)
DataExplorer (Jeffrey Friedl)
MetadataExtensions (yours truly / me)

All are easily findable using internet search (e.g. plugin-name & author-name)

Aspect ratio is now a sorting option in Lr5 (all aspect ratios are ordered, not just "the three"). Note: its in the 'Sort:' drop-down (on the toolbar - press 'T') - not a lib-filter..

I see that but is there a way to only show 4:5 aspect ratio, panoramas, or other specific aspect ratio rather than just sort the lot?

You need a plugin like one of those mentioned in the first post to filter/smart-collect for specific aspect ratio or aspect-ratio range.. Lr has native support for sorting, not lib-filtering/smart-collecting.
