Photoshop Elements: Is there a way of undoing the Clone "auto-plunk" feature?

I've used older generations of Photoshop for years but recently got Elements 9. The Clone tool has a mind of its own! I'm used to the "manual version" of dropping the clone where I want it not where the program thinks it should go. A nice feature at times but frustrating to make small adjustments.
Is there a way of overriding the "auto-plunk" feature?
Thanks, Roger

Hi Roger,

If you click and hold on the Spot Healing Tool it will reveal other tools in the tool slot. You want to use the Healing Brush which lets the users opt/alt click to choose the source of the healing/clone:
