Photoshop Elements: Is it possible to get photos (.jpg) to open directly in organizer as opposed to editor?

I have PSE10 selected as the default application for .jpg files.

When opening a file directly from Windows 7 I would prefer that file to open in the organizer so that I can see other files in the series not the editor which is the default setting.

Thanks, Marty.

'Open With' in Organizer will import the files in Organizer. After import, once you'll click 'Show All' the files will be arranged as per the data preference selected by you.
You can navigate to the photos on which you used 'Open With'. The nearby photos will be the photos in series.

As a workaround to avoid navigation, tag the photo that you just imported before you hit 'Show All'.
After you hit 'Show All' > filter a tag > select the image > unfilter the tag.

Sorry I have not been clear.

The photos I wish to view in organizer are already imported. The example is when my screen saver flashes up an old photo that I would like to look at along with the rest of the series but when I click to open I can only get the one photo in editor mode.

Thanks, Marty.

You do not need to launch Editor (or open files) to see all the other images in the series. Editor is only for editing those images.

You can see the series of photos with in Organizer. Select the photo from where you want to see the series and hit F11. This will launch you in Full Screen View.
In FSV, you can browse using the controls at bottom or arrow keys on your keyboard. Even you can play a slideshow as well.

Hope this clarifies your issue. Please let me know if you need more info.

Unfortunately my problem still is unclear.

I would like already imported files from outside PSE to open in the organizer view - not editor.

For example, if I see a file in windows explorer that is already imported I would like to be able to right click, "open with" PSE10 and then have it open in the organizer.

Currently if I do this, it opens in editor which makes it difficult to locate the rest of the series from within PSE.

I suspect PSE cannot do this.

Thanks, Marty.

Okay. For that you need to use 'Elements Organizer 10' as the application in 'Open With'

In 'Open With' browse for 'PhotoshopElementsOrganizer.exe'.

By default, this exe is present at '%programfiles%\Adobe\Elements 10 Organizer\'

If your system is 64 bit, exe will be present at '%programfiles(x86)%\Adobe\Elements 10 Organizer\'

Tried that however ...

If the file has been already imported, PSE organizer gives a warning to say "Nothing was imported as the file was already in the catalog ..."

When you close this warning, it takes you the last import, which may be 1000's of photos away from the actual file that you tried to open.

As an improvement, PSE should take you WITHIN ORGANIZER to the file you originally selected.
