Is it just me, or does Photoshop CC not remember what tools I used last when I close and reopen the program?

Hello all!

I have years of experience using Photoshop, and I have used CC for quite a while now. Last year I was using a different computer from the more powerful one I have now, but I don't remember ever having this issue. This is less of an issue and more of a preference but its still slowing me down. Every time I reopen Photoshop (I have only noticed this in Photoshop so far) my work-space is saved, but my tool bar wont remember the last tools I was using.

For example: If I was using the polygonal lasso tool, then close Photoshop and reopen, it defaults back to the standard lasso tool.

Does anyone know if there is a way to save what tools were used last or the most often?

 *I just posted this same question on the adobe forums last week and was unable to find any help.*

Thanks in advance!

I have noticed this too but it's inconsistent and I don't know what it's dependent on. When I say it varies, I mean, it will happen on one occasion and another, it would be fine. I have seen the issue on other forums too but really can't remember the fix, if any. I think one of them was to reset preferences?

Yes, Exactly. Its very inconsistent and part of the problem trying to trouble shoot it is I have no idea of the cause.

 I also reset the preferences, and then never seems to make a difference. It other happens or it doesn't. I have had it happen over a few days, and also today it happened over a 20min span.

I'm still not seeing any of it happen on my Mac running Yosemite. But then, it's not a feature I even want. If I relaunch PS and open an image to continue work, I always first want to reevaluate it with fresh eyes. Even if I'm painting. I really only want the Move tool selected when I first launch, which, of course, it never is.

This is the version I am working on and yes I have the most resent update available.

Adobe Photoshop Version: 2015.5.0 20160603.r.88 2016/06/03:23:00:00 CL 1078833  x64

Operating System: Windows 7 64-bit

Version: 7 SP1

 I could see what you mean as far as a reevaluation, but for what I am doing, having the same tools open every time would save me some billable hours.

Especially for retouchers and painters, it makes sense to have the last-tool used, even if it's only one key press or two away. Worst is if you have the expectation, and then it's not there.

Its simply one of those things you just got use to having, and now that its not there or isn't working properly, its extremely frustrating.

Adobe traditionally takes the first week of July off. But even if not, patience is always advised when it comes to fixing stuff, especially nuisance rather than breaks everything stuff.  '-}
