LR5, would be nice to have a respective lists, presets and/or checkbox similar to “Export Synonyms” for IPTC Subject, Scene and Genre. Something like an “Export to IPTC Subject” as a keyword tag option.

Current keywords list has all available newscodes; however, the entries show up as keywords when applied using LR. Help is needed for metadata do display in respective fields on export without the need to copy/paste between fields.

Good idea.

In the mean time, one could use a plugin like Exportant (a free plugin I wrote) to automate. The hardest part would be coming up with a table of which keywords represent iptc newscodes and what fields they should be mapped to. It would be a simple matter to "auto-map"(write) such keywords to appropriate fields in exported file (assuming there *are* appropriate fields) using exiftool. If anybody wants to come up with such a list, I'll make an Exportant preset that will do the job. csv format would be perfect, for example:

Subject: "subj1", "subj2", ...
Genre: "genr1", "genr2", ...
Scene: "scn1", "scn2", ...

The metadata field is XMP:SubjectCode. The allowed values in that field are defined here: http://www.newscodes.org/ .

Thanks John,

Writing the XMP:SubjectCode tag will be easy enough, but I'm too lazy to try and scrounge all the keywords into the requisite lua tables, which is what I was hoping to get (the guts of) from BStock, if he'd use the plugin anyway..

I assume he's got the keywords from controlled vocabulary or somewhere similar and so could export / format them.
