Adobe Lens Profile Creator for Windows 1.0.4 User Manual page 19 "Placing the LCP File In the CameraRaw\LensProfiles\1.0 Folder" does not work with Windows 8 and LR5. I have a custom lens correction profile, which worked with Win XP and LR4, but not anymore when upgraded to Win 8 and LR5. Please, can I have updated instructions for Win 8 and LR5.

Try C: \ Users \ [your username] \ AppData \ Roaming \ Adobe \ CameraRaw \ LensProfiles \

Unfortunately LR5 cannot find the profile just copied in there, neither in C:/Users/[my username] /AppData/Roaming/Adobe/CameraRaw/LensProfiles/1.0/Downloaded.

There's a binary file C:/Users/[my username] /AppData/Roaming/Adobe/CameraRaw/LensProfiles/Index.dat . I'll guess that's the key to the solution. But how to add my custom lens profile in the index.dat?

I am sure you restarted LR5 after adding the profiles. What happens if you take the hint in the documentation and put them in here too ?

C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 5.x\Resources\LensProfiles\1.0\[lens manufacturer's folder]

Although I might add, none of mine need to be there for LR5 to see them in Win7. They end up at the very top of a long stack.

I copied the lens profile file into this location:

C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 5\Resources\LensProfiles\1.0\[lens manufacturer's folder]

on two computers. One running Win 7 & LR5, the other Win 8 & LR5.

On Win 7 profile works OK. On Win 8 LR5 don't "find" the profile at all, at least it is not displayed in pull down menu. [My Win 7 computer is minilaptop (slow processor, 2 GB, small and poor display) and not suitable for image processing.]

Has anybody succeeded with Win 8?

Now that I updated to LR5, and Windows 8.1 I too find that Lightroom no longer recognizes my custom lens profiles.

I wonder if anyone has figured out how to get them to work in LR5 under Win 8.1 ?

There's a lot of conflicting and outdated information about the location for user lens profiles. Try this one:

C:\Users\&LTUSER_NAME&GT\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\CameraRaw\LensProfiles\1.0\Downloaded

Yes, that location works for me in LR5.
