Photoshop CS5: Installed OS X 10.8.5; now Photoshop no longer recognizes iPhoto / Photo Booth files

I upgraded to OSX 10.8.5, Mountain Lion & am running CS5 as mentioned. I primarily work in Photoshop. Since installing the OS update, Adobe Photoshop no longer recognizes files in my iPhoto library as things it can open or read: ditto for Photo Booth, another Apple photo application.

To drag all of my pix onto my desktop for Photoshop to find / be able to open them would be do-able but would add a lot of extra time to the process of finishing those pictures for work. & Photo Booth has no work-around for it that I can find.

(BTW, telling me to buy a new computer &/or join Adobe CC isn't currently an option, though I would love to legitimately upgrade to CS6. Will be joining CC when I have a new machine.)

Thanks in advance for any ideas you all may have..!

Hiya! This is the exact error message:

"Could not complete your request because Photoshop does not recognize this type of file."

Since Photoshop recognized both types of that kind of file 48 hours earlier, before I upgraded my OS, obviously something's gone awry.

The Apple employee I spoke to agreed that sometimes upgrading wasn't worth it due to problems like this. :/ He said his machine at home is still running 10.6, because he didn't want to deal with the inevitable PIA factor that would happen with an upgrade to the OS.
