Elements: Support scalable user interface UI for high resolution monitors

Hi,

The fonts in Photoshop menus, toolbars and dialog boxes are too small for me, making the sotware almost unusable. I tried to find a way to enlarge them, but there seems to be no solution. Searches on Google confirmed this.

The time when people with CRTs were lowering the resolution to increase font size is over, really. Now we have LCDs with native resolution of almost 1080p, if not more, so there is truly a need to adjust font size. Windows 7 has a facility allowing to scale fonts of application, this works for many programs, but Photoshop and also Premiere seem to just override this and make a custom UI with tiny fonts.

Fortunately for me, I discovered this while trying the demo version. I will probably have to choose some other product for image and video editing.

How do you make the icons and menu fonts larger in elements 10? I have my DPI at 150% and changing this appears to make no change (it did in PSE9) Thanks

I had this problem in PSE8 and thought with all the complaints about it, that adobe would correct the problem in PSE10, but apparently they didn't. I mean the font is sooooooo small, no one can read the menu bar or task bar comfortably. What are they thinking? And just an FYI - I tried the trial version on my 17" laptop, but that's the computer I need to use the PSE on, so after trying it and realizing that you still can't increase the font size on the menu bar, I will have to try another photo editing program because I simply can't work on this. It's bizzare that adobe still hasn't corrected this extremely annoying problem.

I would like to be able to increase the font size of the drop down menus, tools, key word tags, etc. in Photoshop Elelments. I'm having vision problems and the small font is difficult to read.

I have a large monitor but going to full screen doesn't change the size of the font significantly (or at all). Changing the display properities for the monitor also doesn't affect the font size of the program.

If anyone knows how to do this please let me know. If not, I'd like to suggest this as a feature for future versions.

Hey moderator Jeff, this is the right place for my concern, but there isn't any useful information here except that I'm not alone with this problem.

Matt, (please don't swear or name call on our site, thanks) If you just purchased PSE 12 from Amazon (within the past 30-days) you likely qualify for a free upgrade. http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/po...

I bought photoshop elements 12 in July so no , I am not eligible for an upgrade and If you think I am paying for an upgrade you are very much mistaken. I have been searching various forums (due to your world class customer service) and it seems that you have been aware of this problem for over two years and have done nothing. You are selling a product unfit for purpose. Now let's see if your north Korean censor will allow this to be posted !

Adobe uses its own Flash-based tool (I think it's called Flex) to build all the user interfaces, which can't be scaled. The full version of Photoshop allows you to make the text bigger, but not icons. None of the other Creative Suite applications allow this.

Adobe doesn't seem to care one whit that people can't read the tiny text and icons. I think Adobe's programmers are all 22 years old. I was considering getting Elements 10 for my husband, but his eyes are worse than mine and he can't use the program at all. So Adobe loses yet one more customer!

No, 99.9% of the UIs are not Flash. Only Flash Panels and File Info are using Flash for the UI.

I apologize for my error. The fact remains that the user interface on all the Adobe products I own and use regularly are extremely difficult to use on a high-resolution monitor due to tiny, unreadable text and icons. Minimum readable font size for MOST people over the age of 40 is around 12pt. Adobe UI elements seem to run around 9pt or less and are poorly (if at all) anti-aliased.

Icons are gray-on-gray and extremely small. I have an enormous monitor and I have to squint to look at the icons?? WTF??

Why is Adobe so reluctant to make the UI resizable?

There is a much longer thread (over 320 comments) about the un-readability of PSE10 etc. here:
http://feedback.photoshop.com/photosh...
May I suggest the users of this thread migrate or add' their comments to the longer one please? We need as much pressure on Adobe as possible!

Seriously Adobe, What is up with the size of fonts icons etc in your software. It sucks!!!
Using PSE7 worked okay on laptop with Vista 32bit and now so small on Windows 7 64bit laptop. WILL NOT upgrade to any Elements or CS's until problem is addressed. This may open the door for other editing software out there. If I have to struggle to read , no new purchases!!!!!!!!!!!

I went from from PSE8 to 10 - The interface is terrible as has been discussed above. I realize the PSE customers are not the focus becuase it is a cheaper product, but I still would like to see the UI and save my eyes.

So we create a forum for feedback, answer questions, implement many of the top requests... and you complain that we don't listen?

Just because we don't get to every single request instantly does not mean that we are not listening.

Wow, Adobe folks are really listening! Thank you for provinding a forum and monitering it. These things are not necessarily apparent to the programmer or UI designer. Thank you,

Chris, you are not implementing any solution to this very widespread and long pinpointed problem and looks like you haven't addressed it in pse 13 either. Will be steering clear of Adobe until they return to this planet !

I have just purchased photoshop elements 10, I would like to make the fonts larger on the icons, toolbars and drop down menus. I am told it can not be done? That is ridiculous! Obviously designed by a young person, how about a fix so the older generation can use the program. I have searched the web, seems like a lot of people would like the ability to read the screen. Very disappointed with product.

I'd like to nuke Adobe. And fry all the sneaky, condescending programmers. They don't give a flying F whether we can read their crummy little font. Now I'm told I have cataracts (am a bit shy of 70), so that makes the micro gray font a pain to see on the dumb black background. The only reason I have PSE is that it works on a Mac - my old Picture Publisher 8 (still better than PS!) requires a PC.

I just installed PE12 on my new Dell XPS15 with a 3200 x 1800 15 inch screen. Your programs menu bar is too small to read. The dialog pop-up message boxes require a magnifier glass to read. Don't you have a version that works on the new HD screens?

Just uninstalled Adobe Elements 12 and won't be coming back to this software till this is sorted - will see what the market has to offer as well. Good I downloaded the trial and didn't just assumed that such solid company will care such less about the customers and the market.

Resolution issues on a 3200x1800 laptop.

Hello!

Perheps I've missed something in the preferences menu, but where do I choose resolution för Adobe elements 12. I've recently bought a Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro and it's standard resolution is 3200x1800. The problem with this is that the menus and the buttons are extremely small. About 4 times too small. Which makes this wonderful program completly useless.

The only way to work around this problem is to change the resolution for everything(in windows 8.1), but it seems a bit sad to buy a computer for $1400 and only be able to use halv of its potential.

I'm currently using the 30-days freetrial version of Elements 12, from the beginning I had the intention of purchasing it right away. But that Is definetly not an option if this issue isn't resolved.

I have been dealing with this same problem for 2 years now. I spent alot of money on Elements 12 and a lot of money on my Lenovo. I cannot use photoshop with the excruciatingly tiny scale. I cannot afford to upgrade to elements 13 and Ive searched for a fix for years. Whats the problem Adobe? Do you need to hire better developers or what? Help your current customers, thats how brand loyalty works. Ill be copy/pasting this message everywhere I find relative. I demand to be seen/heard and until I get a solution that allows me to use my photoshop program, I will keep on posting. Disgraceful!

I've the same issue as Patrik Pettersson. One of the main reasons to get these great high DPI displays is to use photo and video editing software like Photoshop and Premiere Elements.
I sincerely hope that a fix will come soon.

Photoshop Elements 12 menu text font size is too small. How to increase size of these UI fonts?.

My laptop screen has a native resolution of 2560x1440. Photoshop Elements 12 menu (the user interface) text fonts are much too small. How (or when) will this be fixed by Adobe?

A commonly provided work-around I hear is to reset the screen resolution to something lower to help make the application menus readable. I don't want to do this because all of my other apps work fine at this native resolution. Of all companies, Adobe is the last I expected to have this issue.

So my question remains: how (or when) will this Adobe issue be fixed? Thanks.
