Photoshop: Increase the number of handles/control points and improve precision in the Warp feature

Warp (> Edit > Transform > Warp) from what I can find out seems to only support a standard 3 x 3 grid with a fixed quantity of control points/ handles. I'd like to suggest the ability to add further points/ handles & a customisable quantity of grid squares or even presets of say 4x4, 5x5 etc to improve accuracy under certain conditions. Puppet Warp isnt available on a Smart object after using the "Edit > Transform> Distort command first", otherwise that might have been an option.

YES, being able to add anchorpoints would be awesome and very usefull. For example, I sometimes add textures to objects and having the control to transform a photo/smart object as it were a path would be incredibly helpfull. The Puppet Tool is a magnificent tool but doesn't work well for the purpose I just described. Most of all because there are no handles to adjust with.

It's a handy thing. But if I want to perform precise deformation, then I'm out of luck. I would choose the mouse a few grid cross-points and press "shift + arrow" so I can all these points move exactly ten pixels. I wish I had the opportunity to align them to the line itself. I would like to have the option to save a settings next time so I could reproduce deformation exactly.

Holding the Shift key and moving the mouse would point shifted in alignment. Holding Alt-key and click on the corner point to reset the "lever".

Everything would behave as when working with paths.

I made a suggestion awhile similar to this - basically my idea is to add a grid option to a dialogue similar to liquify and be able to adjust the grid points like you use the pen tool - Bezier curves.
And you could save the adjustment as a mesh so you could apply it to other layers or images.

I think it would be much more useful than puppet warp - which i cannot see a use for - so many issues.
