Photoshop CC 2017: Increase / decrease brush size inside Select and Mask tool using the keyboard shortcuts

The "Increase Brush Size" keyboard shortcut which can be set in "Keyboard Shortcuts" for "Tools" stopped working for me inside the "Select and Mask..." tool. Strangely "Decrease Brush Size" keyboard shortcut is still working.

I'll be using CTRL + ALT + Mouse- or Pen-Click to change brush size for now, but I'd be happy to have the official Photoshop Tool shortcut for "Increase Brush Size" inside the "Select and Mask..." tool back.

Reassigning the keys and restarting Photoshop didn't help.
Also updating to Photoshop CC2107 18.0.1 did not fix the problem (using macOS 10.12.1).

Howdy Feinfein,

I'm wondering if there might be an issue with your keyboard.  I tried this on both Mac and Win using the default shortcuts and had no problems at all.  Are you using an unusual keyboard of some sort?  Perhaps you have another application that is hijacking that shortcut combo?  Screen capture and audio apps are frequent offenders.

Thanks,
David

p.s. -- I did find that if I CHANGED the shortcut, then the DECREASE wasn't working (logging a bug), but INCREASE was always fine.

Hey David, thank you for looking into this issue :) I checked again. For me it is INCREASE which does not work any more.

Some more technical details:
I use the official apple keyboard with numeric keypad and a german keyboard layout on a Mac running macOS 10.12.1 in english and Photoshop in english too. The German keyboard layout is the only one installed in macOS Keyboard (Input Sources) settings.

Why did I change the default keyboard settings?:
Photoshop only accepts "single character shortcuts" for increase / decrease brush size (I never understood why they limit possible shortcuts anyway, but that's something else). Photoshop's default keyboard shortcut settings for Increase / Decrease Brush Size is "[" and "]" (Don't know about the default shortcuts for the german Photoshop version).  These keys are not available on german keyboards (as single character shortcuts). We can only reach them by using ALT+5 or ALT+6. This results in all Germans (using the English Photoshop version) being forced to change the default settings to a key that's actually on their keyboard as a "single character".

Howdy Feinfein,

Oder soll ich "Hallo" sagen?  Na ja, ich habe in Deutschland gewohnt und deshalb habe ich auch ein Problem mit unseren Tastaturbefehle...

Improving our keyboard shortcut options and architecture is one of my personal goals.  I actually just wrote up a series of guidelines for best practices earlier this week.  Hopefully, as time moves forward, we'll start making improvements around this area.  Meanwhile, the reason for single key shortcuts for tools is architectural and workflow based; there are a number of really good technical reasons for why we do this.  I am hoping, however, to broaden which keys will be acceptable moving forward.  Wish me luck...8-)

Vielen Dank,
David

Usually, with mouse or pen it's Ctrl+Alt+Click, but recently, since the administrators updated the cintiqs on campus, when I use the pen I just get the Eyedrop tool. It still works on my mouse, so I don't know what's wrong.
