Inconsistent color (including UI background color) between tabs

I do not know how to consistently replicate this, but I had this happen in the latest CC 20.0.2 as well as older version of 19. I experienced this in Sierra and High Sierra. If I figure out a way to create this issue consistently, I will update this, but until then I wanted to note it since it can be a major headache.

At times, I will open two documents, say two revisions of the same photo with minor changes, and there will be major color difference between the two. This is a major problem in that if you didn't realize that there was a problem, you could do serious damage working on the file with the assumption that all is right.

The 'off' canvas will look lighter and desaturated, with the UI background also looking lighter, which makes it obvious as soon as you toggle between two tabs. It looks like a color management problem where the gui drops out of the color management pipeline for that tab or something.

If I close the document and reopen it the issue goes away, the problem is you have to have the eye to spot it in the first place.

best,
derin

Please take a screen shot the next time you see this. Which Mac are you seeing this on?

I have seen it on a Mac Pro (the latest revision of the old towers) and a Macbook connected to an external display. It's not that I don't see it on others as much as those two are the only ones I work on. It doesn't happen that often.

The fact that it happens on both machines is good info. Thanks.

No problem, yeah one was at an Artist's studio a year or so back, the other one is my machine this morning(as well as before). If I recall correctly it had happened in the first document that I opened (as in the first one was the one with the color 'off'), perhaps a loading order issue. The documents were 16 bits and both computers had hardware LUT calibrated monitors with color profiles active, EIZO and NEC respectively.
