Lightroom: Incomplete import of files.

My files that I import into lightroom are causing lines and missing pieces of the file. This just started happening after I downloaded the update for Lightroom 5. If I import the photos onto my computer instead of in lightroom, I do not have a problem with them...only when importing to lightroom.

Gina,

Likely you are discussing a hardware transfer issue. Can you post a screen capture of one of the suspect files being displayed in Lightroom?

That does look like a pretty classic example of a hardware failure during file transfer.

Likely culprits:

Bad spot on Card
Bad Cable/Card Reader

Unlikely Culprits:

Camera
USB Port
Hard drive

You will need to start checking components and see if you can figure out which one is at fault.

The reason it looks ok in other programs after you transfer them is probably because they are looking at the JPEG preview (which is intact) but Lightroom renders the larger Raw file (which isn't).
