I created a document in Photoshop...it has several layers and is quite large. I closed the file saving as a psd so that I could reopen and edit if need be. When I try to reopen the file, it says sorry this file is incompatible with this version of photoshop.

The file may be corrupt on disk.
Or you may have exceeded some limitations of the file format.

What version of Photoshop are you using?
What OS version are you using?
What file format did you save to?
How large was your document?
How many layers in your document?

file size is 253.8mb
I have no idea how many layers...it is a lot- prob 20-30
I saved it as a psd so that I could edit if need be.

20-30 isn't a lot of layers. 5000+ is a lot of layers...

What is the document size, in pixels?
