Dear Lightroom team,

would it be possible for you to include lens profiles that were downloaded by the user (e.g. using Adobe Lens Profile Downloader) in the LR preferences that can be stored within the LR catalogue. This way, the profile remains with the catalogue even when the user reinstalls LR or moves the catalogue to another machine.
I use two profiles that I downloaded with the lens profile downloader.
Every time I reinstall my machine, I have to remember downloading them again - and especially remember which of them I downloaded, since for several lenses there are multiple profiles available.

I just stumbled up this again when I selected older photos in LR to be edited in PSE and the copies crop and distortion differed from the original. Well, the problem was I forgot to reinstall two profiles after upgrading my machine to a SSD.

It would be so much easier if the profiles could be included int he catalogue (just like the LR preferences) so they stay with all the images/edits.

Thanks,

Timo

Good idea.

Like camera calibration profiles, the lens profiles are critical to the photo. Even if not stored physically in the catalog database, it should be possible to not lose these and/or if lost, user should be notified, instead of silently doing without...

Yep, it's a shame that LR doesn't tell you that a lens profile is missing when you edit or export a photo that had a user lens profile applied that is missing on the current installation. It took me a while to figure out what went wrong.
Especially if you consider that some of of want to keep our catalogues over years. Do we all remember which profiles we once installed 5 years ago?
