I understand it's required for editing the paths, but if i'm not using the path tools it is really REALLY annoying that the path outlines keep covering up the edges of my shapes every time I try to change a color or style. I realize you changed the way paths and layers are combined, but there is no reason as a designer that I would want to see the path outlines by default, always. It is so easy to turn them on if I want to see them (rarely). Please please PLEASE, at least give me the option to have it hidden by default. I'm reeeeaaaaly tired of pressing escape every time I select a new object to hide the path.

I'm certain I speak for all web designers who rely on Photoshop for pixel perfect design, not just photo editing. Speaking of pixel perfect design, THANK YOU for fixing the line tool. It finally aligns to the pixel correctly (even at different zoom levels!).

Try the toggle Ctrl/Command+H (menu view extras)

Thanks, but I do constantly use Cmd+H and Cmd+Shift+H to hide all extras or just the target path, but it doesn't matter because as soon as I draw a new shape, it just comes right back and stays on when I change my layer selection. This is different functionality from CS5 that I have seen other designers talk/complain about all through the beta.

I would like to know a solution to this too. Hiding doesn't work. Really annoying!! :(

I've become a regular user of CNTRL+SHIFT+H because of this added "feature" to CS6.

It's extremely annoying especially when working with web layouts when I need to see 1px strokes around vectors.

Please give us an option to turn this "new feature" off.

Hi all,

We made some changes in the 13.0.1 update to CS6 that should hopefully help with some of these issues you're having. Path outlines no longer display when the Layer Styles dialog is open. Also, if a shape layer is active and a non-vector tool is selected, the path outline will not display.

I'm not sure if this will clear up the specific issue with the path outline showing up when you draw a new shape, but I hope the changes improve your experience with shape layers.

Thank you Jeanne!

I noticed right after patching that this was no longer an issue :)
