Photoshop: Ability to save a selection of layers

I suggest that you implement the following feature:

When I work in Photoshop, I normally choose several layers from the "Layers" palette. And it would help a lot if I could *save my choice*.
It may be really annoying to have to make my layers choice anew.
I would also love to have a possibility to make and save several choices.
By implementing this feature, you will make Photoshop so much more comfortable to work with!

You should check over in the Scripting Forum if someone sees a realistic possibility for achieving that with Scripts and the metadata in the current version.
http://forums.adobe.com/community/pho...

I suspect there might be some issues, though, because changing the order, names, group structure and deleting layers might cause problems, especially across sessions.

If something can be achieved with existing features (I am not certain this could in a sensible manner, but it might) then Adobe might be loathe to invest resources in it.
And the demand probably factors in, too – with three »likes« your request seems to be off to a decent start, but it might take more.

I'm assuming you want to save a discontiguous set of layers. In this case, does Layer Linking work?

You right. I want to save something like this http://clip2net.com/s/1C3zb
For example: I pick several layers and save my choice. After time I open this set by one or two clicks and use it.
I am sorry , my english is not so well. I can't understand, what does it means (In this case, does Layer Linking work? )

Thanks for your comments. I'm aware of these features, and I use them for my work.

But unfortunately, these two options are not enough for me to take full advantage of working with layers in Photoshop.
I will try to explain.

When I'm working on a website design, I usually make several layers.
I use Groups when I want to put my layers into folders. Especially, when it comes to several layers from one logical site block.

Also, I link some of the layers to each other, when I want to move or to transform several items.

However, very often, I need to pick, say, 35 out of 50 Text Layers, but they are located in several different Groups (folders). And some of these layers can be linked to each other or to other layers. So, here is what I do when I need to change the color for these Text Layers. I open Layers Palette and Click on each Layer. I need to Click 35 times. Then I change the color. And then I can pick other Layers and continue to work.

After some time, if I need to change Color again, I need to Pick this Set of Layers again (35 clicks more). That takes pretty much time. And this is what I don't like.

So I would like to have an opportunity:
* to save Sets of selected Layers;
* to make several Sets of selected Layers;
* to choose one of my Sets with maximum 2-3 cliks;
* to delete Old Sets.

And the feature should work for renaming, deleting, creating, grouping and moving Layers in the Layers palette.

Thanks for your attention )

It is using layerIds so that it can find the same layers even if they are moved Christoph.

Neat and impressive!
You really seem to be getting great mileage out of metadata.

Alexander, if you assign Paul’s Script a keyboard shortcut or trigger it from a Configurator Panel it should integrate pretty well in your workflow.

Paul,

Comments on replies collapse after a certain number of comments are made. Best to create a new Reply as opposed to a comment if you want the link to always be visible.

Out of curiosity: did you happen upon the issue here or did the OP post a query in one of the Scripting Fora?

Hmm, how would a feature like this work?

Yet another palette? ("read my lips: no new palettes")

Convert layer selections into layer comps?

Have an action recording of layer selections (snapshot and restore, no visibility into the contents)?

Hi Alexander, I have put the script on my site so you should be able to download it.
