Impossible to use Premiere Elements 12 without an internet connection.

Editing offline is ideal for me. I can sit anywhere and work and I don't always have access to an internet connection.

Recently I've discovered that PE12 requires an internet connection for the program to start, and has several other sub-programs that demand internet access as well.

This is really not a good situation. PE12 ought to be able to start as an independent program, and if you need to connect to the internet for sharing, then it should be able to do it as needed.

I would not have purchased the program if I knew that internet connections were required for its use.

Hi Thal,

The internet connection needed at the start is for activation, once activated you shouldn't need to have an internet connection active during use, unless you're going to be using the online services.

Here is the system requirements page that mentions the need for internet connectivity: http://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop-elem...

Regards
Pete

I have installed PE12, and it works fine- if I give it internet access. If I don't, it hangs while loading and will not continue without an outside line.
Once it loads, it works normally until shutdown and restart of the program- at which point it will not re-load without my allowing it past the firewall.

I have been unable to locate any switch that will allow me to start the program without it having access to the internet. I'm fine with the internet requirement for the initial license check, but to require access to use? That is unreasonable. Not everyplace on this planet has access.

I to, would not have purchased the program if I knew that an internet connection is required for its use after a successful installation and initialization.

I have made several attempts to navigate Adobe's help site to get help with this issue, and their site is a frustrating to use as their program- except with the program, I have been able to complete the task with enough persistence.
