Lightroom: Importing Photos in Lightroom 3.5 crashes (Windows 8 Developer Preview)

I upgrade to Lightroom 3.5 and it has crashed a few times when I was trying to import photos from SD cards. This never happened before with Lr 3.4. I'm running 64-bit version under windows 8 developer preview.

Did anyone experience this?

Here's what I found
- Lr 3.5 import function does not work very well. I've created a new catalog with 3.5 and imported from my 3.4.1 photo catalog. Before the crashes happened, I noticed the file name template wasn't imported, and I had to manually copy it from my other copy of Lr on Windows 7 (I'm testing Windows 8 at the moment)
- I've switched back to LightRoom 3.4.1, imported the 3.5 catalog but this crashed Lr 3.4.1 as well (right at the beginning when application started) so it's likely that Lr 3.5 has somehow corrupted the catalog DB. Luckily I still have my 3.4.1 catalog available and was able to import it with no issues

So I'm currently on 3.4.1 running smoothly in Windows 8 developer preview

Hopefully someone will find a permenant solution to this

Cheers

Have you tried it on a released version of Windows instead of the early preview version of Windows 8 (which does have quite a few bugs)?

Hi Chris,

Thanks a lot for your prompt reply. I did what you suggested to revert back to using windows 7. Lr 3.4.1 didnt crash this time but it did finish importing either. I think the issue was with 1 video I record that was mixed with the images. The progress bar never disappear and a temporary folder was created where my photo are located. All files were copied over. It just didnt finish the process and delete the temporary data.

I imported the photos only and it worked flawlessly.

I also am having this problem.

After the first two import crashes, Lightroom would not even open until I deleted the existing catalog.

I'm going back to my Windows 7 partition for the time being. We'll see how it goes there.
