Lightroom Classic: Importing photos after update not working

I use macOS Mojave. After updating to LR Classic CC v8.0, folder sync and importing are no longer working. The new photos to sync are shown but the progress indicator doesn't move and no button to import is shown.

Going back to v7.5 everything is working fine.

Hi Reinard,

Sorry to hear about the issue.
Did you try re-installing Lightroom and check if it works ?

Can you please post your "System Info" [LR -> Help -> System Info] ?

Could you please do a clean install once without these plugins added and then report back if you are still facing the issue ?

It seems everything is ok. now, after the clean install without plug-ins import and sync are working on both machines. Now I have to check which plug-in is the baddie... So for now we can close this chat. Thanks.

I have to come again on this issue. Import/folder sync still don't work. With one to 4 photos sometimes, but never with more. No plug-ins now. The video in the screenshot is from an iPhone 5, which never made problems in the past. But it happens also with normal jpegs. And when I delete a whole bunch of photos and start folder sync after that, the information window says there is one photo not in the catalogue ... :-(

Just a head up for everyone....

Lightroom gave me a heart attack last night. It's just been updated as you probably know and I think there's a serious problem!

After this weekend's wedding I got home and did my usual. Plugged in my card, set the destination folder, all the usual import stuff. Hit "Import" and went to watch, Strictly. (Recently I've only imported to one destination as I'll dump the cards into the backup drive when I go to bed. It's quicker to see some of the shots as they come in.)

After around a half hour I went to check on the import and wanted to see how the confetti shot was looking. There was about 20% left to import. The photos went from bride arriving to bridesmaids walking down the aisle (fine)then to mingling outside. Where's the ceremony photos!!? Sometimes LR imports in a weird order I thought to myself. I'll wait until it's finished.

I came back, import complete....... Still no ceremony photos, no confetti photos. My heart sank!! I reviewed them in camera during the day, they must be there!
I checked the card via Finder on the MBP. Relieved to see the shots all in tact. Checked the back up card too. All good.

So I tried to import again but selected "skip duplicates" Thinking this will bring in the ones they it missed. No duplicates. LR couldn't see the 300+ photos that were on the card but that it hadn't imported.
So I deleted the whole import and thought I'd start again. This time the Import dialogue screen came up with the previews and all the ticks....... 345 photos!!? Eh? there's over 1100 on the card!!?
So I fired up LR CC (I've been testing it out again). It sees all the photos fine.
So I dumped the cards into my back up drive. "Select all" to see how many files there was then imported to LR CC instead. (It syncs to classic anyway so I can still use classic to edit etc).

The main issue as you've probably already figured out is this......

What if I had a wedding the day after? What if I did my usual and imported the files, then imported the next card. It says next to their names in the folder structure.. "Megan & James 1956" (for eg) I would think that's pretty normal.
Format the cards for a wedding today and without realising it bin all the shots from the ceremony! There's actually 2259 photos!

So if you use LR and have updated. Please check the card in finder or explorer to check how many files are there and compare that with what LR is showing. I'll be doing that every single time now. In fact I'm changing the way I work so that I dump the cards to the back up drive first, check the count and then import to LR.

Derek - I'd suggest creating a new post for your issue as it doesn't sound the same as Reinard's.

Hi Derek,
There are two ways to do import from SD card a) Device Copy b) File Copy.
Could you please tell me which import you are trying. If you are using Device copy try to do import from Source Folder and let us know if you still face the issue.
