Lightroom Classic: Importing From Catalog or Export to Catalog loses Keywords and other problems

For me the following issue started with 7.3. However rolling back to 7.2 was  did not solve the problem.

Will all catalogs. Working cats, backup cats and  new empty cats the following problems always occur.


Select as few as six files of the complete catalog and  export to catalog  the message"Lightroom could not export to this catalog because of a unknown error"   However ALL the files are there, but the keywords are NOT.  (I use a keyword based system)

When I import from a catalog - empty new one or existing one with files (have tried catalogs with 10 files only up to 100,000 same negative result)  Same error message except the word export is replaced with import (see image) 

Again all the files come it - almost all the keywords DO NOT.   Tried all combinations. Even dug out the backup catalogs - same negative results.

If i select the Import button - same one used for the camera / folders etc.  The keywords come in just fine and no error messages.  Of course the problem here is I do not get the information stored in the catalog. dev etc. 

Spent hours with tech support - the best they came up with was "they will show up eventual"  before contacting TS i left the catalog(s) open 24 hours and nothing changed.

This happens to all catalogs - including newly created empty ones.  

Also have tried the following:

Filtered on file type then export / import - same negative result.
Filtered on file size
Moved files to new folders from within LR - same negative result.

System is W10 latest updates (fresh install) / 24gb mem / 12tb free disk space. No catalog lives on a drive with less than 50% free disk space. 

Tested both on internal and usb 3.1x drives same result.

All catalogs optimized, backed up and  tested for integrity everytime they are opened. Never an issue.

Do you have an Adobe Case Number I could review to see specifically what steps the technician attempted when attempting to assist you?

Thanks Rikk,  never received the usual email from TS so I do not have it - is there someplace I can look it up?

However all they did was what i had already done and mentioned above. Create a new catalog - export the data and tell me to wait and my keywords would show up eventually (not kidding)

Still working on it -

Are these imports from / export to on local drives or are you going over a network?

no network , isolated  - both internal drives with no outside references and external drives - with and without internal references -  all was fine two weeks ago and had been without a hitch for years., (catalogs with over 100,000 never a problem) - even the backup catalogs display the same behavior.  W10 is fresh install with only Adobe  - a mystery for sure.

additional information:   Latest lr update did not fix problem. Have been able to create problem on two other paid accounts Both working studios - different data (images) at each location.

I was unable to find any record of your online support interactions.  Forgive me if I repeat something you've already attempted.

Interesting there should be two recent records with online support.  Don't think I will use them again.
Anyway to answer your question yes. 

I am still doing some test and might be on to something.  Will let you know what i find out.
