Lightroom Classic: Importing from another catalog and want new catalog to file images by date

When importing and copying images from my hard drive to a catalog I can specify the files be organized by date.  When importing and copying images from an existing catalog to a new catalog (because I want to retain keywords associated with those images in first catalog) I can not find an option to import by date.  Am I just missing something or is there a reason that can not be done?  Thank you!

You're not missing anything -- the option isn't there. Over the years, many people have wished for the ability to reorganize the folders by date after initial import.

Folder organization is controlled by the the operating system and not by an application. Just choose the sort option to view by date.

The Destination panel of LR's Import lets you move/copy imported photos to folders named with the photos' capture dates. Laura asked if that's also possible with File > Import From Another Catalog. LR can do it with Import, but not with Import From Another Catalog.

Laura, a clarification: If the photos in the existing catalog are organized into dated folders, then if you select the option File Handling: Copy New Photos To A New Location And Import when you do Import From Another Catalog, LR will preserve that subfolder structure of the copied photos.

For example, when I used these Import From Another Catalog options:

LR copied the exiting dated folder structure of the imported photos  to the destination "test pics" folder:
