Lightroom: Import taking FOREVER to initiate

Importing is horribly slow right now.
  • Thumbnails are not in the import screen, so I can't pick and choose
  • The import dialogue hangs for a LONG time before finally importing the images
  • Sometimes it takes 10 minutes...and then says "no photos or videos were found to import" when there ABSOLUTELY are images!
Is my computer sufficiently powerful? Hell yes.
Am I running the latest version of Adobe CC, Lightroom, etc? Yes.
Did I try to reset Lightroom preferences? Yes...and the problem resurfaced a few days later.
Am I bloody tired of Adobe's seeming disregard for the desktop version of Lightroom? Yes!

Do you have mapped drives that no longer accessible? It might be timed out when Lr tried to connect to them. Unmount the drives if they are not needed.

I restarted several times before posting to see if that would clear up the issue. That should have unmapped disconnected drives, right?

Either way, it's working again. For now.

Pretty much same experience here as in initial post from Jonathan. Could anyone please explain what mapped drives are (in LR context)?
