Import hangs at cloud drive

I connect my iPhone to import photos and click the import button.  LR immediately recognizes an external drive (my Amazon cloud drive) and begins to scan it.  Until it has traversed all the folders in the hierarchy and determined an estimate of total size and number of files it hangs and shows Not Responding in the title bar.  There are over 30K files consuming over 70GB and this process takes about 7 minutes.

This is NOT the drive that I want to import.  Only when it is done am I allowed to click the other device (the iPhone) and begin scanning it.  I am not saving any time by it searching the first item in this list.  It needs to wait until I have selected a device before it locks up with a lengthy search.

Michael, I see this is tagged with Lightroom Classic CC, Photoshop Elements and Bridge. Do all three programs exhibit the same scan delay for Amazon Cloud Drive?
