Just simply importing to my computer from an SD and then the sync to Collections (CC) is almost 3 times slower now after Lightroom Classic Update. Am I the only one? It doesn't even seem like the overall performance is that much faster.

Same experience here: Import dialogue - okay; import/preview build - way way way slow compared to past versions. Its yet another LR bottle neck...

Importing .CR2 raw images of canon , with previews on minimum.
200 pc import 12,5 Gb from 7200rpm disc to SSD were the catalog is. Both LR 2015.13 and LRclassic tested with both progr. same settings.
LR 2015.13 45 seconds and LRclassic 4 minutes.
The point is which settings Adobe is recommending it does not matter. LR 2015.13 is much faster and I can still use the old catalogue. LR classic renders the old LR2015.13 catalog to work with LRclassic and then import goes slow. With a new catalog it goes faster but who wants to throw away the old catalog? I am following some forums about this issue but cannot find any comment yet what helps.

We will look into the issue.
Could you please provide following information as it will hep us to investigate further?
1. What are the types of images you are importing?
2. Which previews you are trying to build i.e. Standard, 1:1, Minimal or Embedded?
