Lightroom: Import error: "Error trying to find a space for the imported file"

I ran into the very annoying problem again, that the preview in LR would not update. when it was handed back over from PS. I went back and forth within the LR Modules and thought that would help, but nothing changed. The crazy thing with this is, that on my second monitor, the new preview is displayed, but in the develop module on the main monitor, I have the old pre-photoshop preview.

So this time, I went into the menue and had LR delete the 1:1 preview of that image. Then I had it rebuilt the 1:1 preview for that image. Nothing changed though, still showed me the old preview.

Next try was my old trick: I delete the image from LR, then I pull it out of the trash and reimport it into LR. This way a new preview is created.
But tis time, the import did not work, because LR just displays me the message, that an error occured while LR was trying to find a spot/ space for the imported file!? What the heck is that supposed to mean? The file opens fine with PS, but no matter what I try, it will always display that very error message, when I try to import it into LR.

Since this trick did always work before, I suppose it has something to do with the fact, that I had LR delete the 1:1 preview and rebuild it before I deleted it completely?

I am on LR 6.7 on OSX Capitan.

try to optimise the catalogue.
Kill the LR image a second time.
Try to synchronise the folder where is the image

An other trick would be to go into the Finder and move your pics form it's place to an other folder that isn't read by LR.
Then back in LR kill the image.
Exit LR
replace the image in it's original folder.
Restart LR and make a synchronisation of that specific folder.

In Develop when you have the "pre-Photoshop" view that doesn't update. Go to your History panel and click on the top history item. Does it refresh for you then?

Ok, my preview hangs again. Your suggestion to klick on the history item doesn't do anything. I switched back and forth between develop and browse module and changed images, but the preview in develop module is just stuck on the very same image. Even clicking on presets doesn't refresh the small preview.

This does happen quite a lot and it is just annoying!

@Michel
I deleted the image numerous times, I opened it in PS and saved it as PSD file, moved it to another folder, still not importing. I even deleted the the original raw .CR2 file and then tried to reimport the CR2 and the tiff file, but it only imports the CR2 and then gives me that error message.

Rikk,  am not in the studio today, bit I'll try your suggestions tomorrow.

Ok, I tried all the tricks that were suggested, but LR will not import the .tiff version of the image. I deleted the CR2 file, had LR optimize the catalogue, did a computer restart, still, always that darn message, that LR could not find a spcae..... the CR2 imports just fine. So, I spend way too much time on this stupid thing already, it would have been wiser to just start with the CR2 from scratch.

As far as updated previews are concerned, I have to wait until I run into that problem again, it does happen quite often though.
