Import as DNG

Using Classic I decided a while ago (after weighing up the pros and cons) that to try and future proof myself as much as possible, I'd convert my catalog to DNG. It seems that it just imports files in their native formats with no options to convert to DNG. Would be great to bring this across to Lightroom CC.

I know the concept for the cloud stuff is that we don't need to worry about the files etc, but it'd be nice to be able to walk away from Adobe if we wanted to with the files in a format that we want.

On that note. I'm guessing not, but is there a way to migrate from Lightroom CC to Lightroom Classic CC, if you change your mind down the line? I know I can save all the originals locally - but how would you go about getting edits and collections in?

Sort of, but via the cloud. Everything syncs up to the cloud from CC, then turning on sync in Classic pulls it all down again into your Classic catalog.

How do I turn sync on in Classic? It seems to have a different definition of sync, that is, between photos and not from the cloud.

Click on the identity plate top left, and you'll see sync in there. Note that Classic doesn't have full sync - it only syncs smaller smart previews up to the cloud, and doesn't sync various other metadata.

Hmm so if I have the same photos in Classic and the new LR, and I make changes using the new LR, it won't sync those same changes to the Classic app?

I agree Andrew, my workflow to convert and store all files as DNG is now broken.  We need to be able to convert at import or post import in CC.  OR to add "sync up the CC library with classic" option.
