Lightroom: Immediate Crash on Synchronize

Installed latest version of Lightroom - 5.7
Appears to be working but have a recurring problem: program immediately aborts when I try to import or synchronize files. The crash is so fast that I suspect that a dump file is not being created, and if it is, I have no idea where to find it.

So for now, I am dead in the water for editing new pictures.

At what point does it crash, for example, "I select File menu> Import and it opens the import dialog and it crashes when I press X. "?

I select Synchronize; get the dialog box, click on synchronize and it immediate crashes.

I did a "Show in Explorer" because I wanted to confirm that the files I wished to synchronize were in the folder. They were. I then went back to Lightroom and tried synchronize again.... this time it worked.

When it crashed on the "Import" command, I never got to a dialog box. However it now works again.

Is a crash report created? And if so, where?

Ok, try import (without synchronize) and see if that crashes too.

Which OS are you on?
