When I crop an image in Ps CS5 at 300 pixels/inch resolution and then import it into Corel Draw the image gets imported at 72 x72 dpi resolution. The same image when cropped in Photoshop Elements gets imported correctly into Corel Draw at 300 dpi

What file format are you using? It sounds like Corel is failing to read the resolution metadata correctly.

I'm using jpg format in RGB Mode, when I take the same file and recrop it in Photoshop Elements 7.0 it gets imported correctly into Corel Draw.

Try using TIFF or PSD format instead.

My guess is that Corel is trying to read obsolete JFIF metadata and ignoring the modern EXIF metadata and XMP metadata.

Tiff works fine, so maybe you are right. Thanks. Anyway I can overcome this from the Photoshop end though?

No, the bug isn't on the Photoshop end, but in how Corel handles metadata. Corel needs to fix their metadata reading for JPEG.
