Lightroom: Image Tracking - Sales & Licensing

I've asked for it before and I'll ask for it again... The only thing missing to complete my workflow is Image usage and sales tracking. I would love to be able to track (stock) sales revenue and usage of images. This also might include things like indicating which licensing is about to expire (so as to track potential opportunities) as well as marking an image unavailable because of exclusivity. As a commercial photographer I would find this INFINITELY more useful than Maps, Books, and Slideshows combined. (not to knock those modules - just saying they have a narrow spectrum of usage)

As does stock tracking.

Image sales tracking could apply to any PROFESSIONAL, be it an event photographer, commercial photographer, editorial,...the list could go on. I was simply using stock photography as ONE example of how this IDEA would benefit users.

I am a fine art photographer who sells limited edition prints. It would be very handy to see how many images are left in an edition...

You might like to talk to some of the plug-in developers. They're the ones who are likely to explore the options on that.

The PLUS system is supposed to do that (see but there's a very big gap between such standards and the huge variety of things people actually need to record. A plug-in could meet some needs, but the diversity of requirements probably means that it would be better for Lightroom to offer a generic solution - allowing users to add their own custom fields and data without being forced to resort to plug-ins.
